This 2023 Polar MC-331 tank trailer is built to transport liquefied petroleum gas and other liquefied gases — including anhydrous ammonia, propane, butane, propylene, dimethyl ether, isobutane, and butadiene — with a hauling capacity of 11,600 gallons and a 265 PSI pressure rating. The tank itself is mild steel with an external insulation layer and pressure jacket, built in the cylindrical, single-compartment design standard to MC-331 trailers for handling the pressures these products require. The undercarriage, load rack, and 5th-wheel plate are all stainless steel, powder-coated over a zinc-rich primer for a finish that stays brighter longer, resists corrosion, chemicals, chipping, and scratching, and confines nicks and scars to the point of impact for easier repair. The trailer rides on Hendrickson air-ride suspension with MAXX22 disc brakes and tandem, fixed rear axles, on 11R22.5 tires and all-aluminum wheels. Piping is all-welded stainless steel — polished and passivated, with MEC sweeps piping and flanged MEC stainless steel globe valves — which cuts down on leak points and helps the unit hold its appearance over time. Loading and unloading run through a 4-inch Blackmer pump, and the trailer includes stainless steel fenders and a SMART hose. Standard LPG safety equipment includes a rupture disk device, an emergency shut-off device, an electrostatic device, safety valves, a pressure gauge, and a combined liquid-level meter and thermometer.
