40ft Gooseneck Chassis

This 40-foot gooseneck chassis is a tandem-axle chassis built for the stevedoring and transportation of a single ISO 40-foot container, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 67,200 lbs (30,481 kg). Overall length is 40 feet 10 inches, overall width is 96 inches, king pin location is 30 inches from the rear face of the front bolster, coupler height is 48 inches, and tare weight is approximately 6,600 lbs. The frame and main fabricated parts are high-strength, low-alloy ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel with a minimum yield point of 50,000 PSI. Standard components include 10.00 x 20 tires on 5-spoke wheels, spring suspension, an antilock braking system, and two-speed landing legs, with upgrades available such as radial tires, air ride, and different paint colors; the chassis can be stacked up to five high for power-only transport. In detail, the main rails are hot-rolled structural steel I-beams (12 inches deep, 19 lbs/ft), the suspension is a Hutch three-leaf-spring setup rated at 11,000 lbs per spring, the two axles are rated at 22,500 lbs each with 16.5 x 7-inch Q brakes and automatic slack adjusters, and braking runs through a Meritor Wabco 2S/1M anti-lock system with 30/30 spring brake chambers. Twist locks are cast steel to engage ISO corner castings, the electrical system is 12-volt with plug-type connectors, a 7-way plug, and sealed wire harnesses and lighting, and the finish is a commercial sandblast, primer, and paint system with conspicuity tape, a bumper, and 24 x 30-inch mud flaps. A 12-pin variant of this chassis is also available, which can carry one 40-foot container, two lightly loaded 20-foot containers, or one heavy 20-foot container positioned at the center of the frame. The chassis is built to meet AAR, FMVSS, ISO, ANSI, DOT, ABS, SAE, and TTMA standards, and it can be supplied in inspected, road-ready condition with a current FHWA inspection certificate, or in as-is condition for buyers planning their own repairs or tire swap.
