X2 2500R Refrigeration Units

The Carrier Transicold X2 2500R is the rail/multi-modal version of the X2 Series' top single-temperature unit, built on the original X-Series platform with updated aerodynamic styling, quieter operation, and easier serviceability. An Advance microprocessor with an integrated DataLink data recorder manages temperature control and cooling capacity to minimize fuel use, and the unit pairs a Kubota diesel engine with a six-cylinder compressor. At a 35°F setpoint and 100°F ambient, it delivers 66,000 BTU/hr of cooling capacity. Standard dimensions are a 76.4″ x 85.7″ x 22.8″ condenser, a 66.3″ x 45.2″ x 8.2″ evaporator, and a 66.8″ x 46.0″ body opening. Doors are molded from a high-strength composite for enhanced impact strength, light resistance, thermal stability, and heat resistance, with full-length side doors hinged at the trailer that open all the way to the top on a single latch per side, and front panels that open from the center on one latch. An aero-acoustic grille with wider openings, integrated door seals, recessed acoustic foam, a tuned engine intake system, and a V-Force vortex suppression fan reduce operating noise, with an optional Stealth package available for further reduction. This model spans the 2012–2015 year range, with used inventory typically showing 5,000–9,000 hours. It is available in new and used condition; used units are generally serviced with new belts, an oil change, and fresh filters, inspected by a reefer technician, and fitted with an LED remote indicator light. An install kit — remote fuel tank and brackets, fuel lines, air chute, and bulkhead hardware — is available for units going into a new trailer.
