X4 7300R Refrigeration Units

The Carrier Transicold X4 7300R is the rail/intermodal edition of the X4 7300 single-temperature, belt-driven refrigeration unit, engineered and tested to withstand the severe shock and vibration of rail service. It shares the X4 platform's Tier 4 Final Kubota V2203L smart diesel engine — 4 cylinders, 2.2L direct injection, rated 24.8 hp (18.5 kW) at 1,800 rpm — paired with a large-displacement 05G-41CFM six-cylinder compressor (40 in³ displacement), and meets 2013 EPA Tier 4 emissions regulations. An Extended Service Interval (ESI) package pushes the air filter, fuel filter, and oil filter service interval out to 3,000 hours. At a 35°F setpoint and 100°F ambient, cooling capacity is 66,000 BTU/hr, dropping to 35,000 BTU/hr at 0°F and 23,000 BTU/hr at -20°F, with evaporator airflow of 3,050 cfm (5,180 m³/hr). Compared to the X2 platform it succeeds, the X4 7300R weighs about 30 lbs less, delivers 3–10% higher cooling capacity, pulls down up to 20% faster, uses 5–22% less fuel, needs 24% less refrigerant, and can run at speeds up to 18% slower for up to 15% less engine runtime. Standard refrigerant is R-404A at a 15 lb charge. Standard equipment includes the APX control system with IntelliSet and ProductShield, a Datalink data recorder, a multilingual graphical display, pretrip and Virtual Tech diagnostics, UltraFresh 3 temperature control, an electronic expansion valve, a brazed plate heat exchanger, automatic start/stop and automatic hot gas heating, a high-efficiency microchannel condenser, a V-Force vortex suppression fan, and composite doors with a single-release latch. Condenser dimensions are 76.4″ x 85.7″ x 22.8″, evaporator dimensions are 66.3″ x 45.2″ x 8.2″, body opening is 66.8″ x 46.0″, and approximate weight is 1,685 lbs (765 kg). Being a rail edition, the unit is backed by RailCare warranty coverage, which includes travel time and repair set-up for on-site assistance. A range of remote aluminum fuel tanks and other accessories, including telematics and noise-reduction packages, are available.
