X4 7700 Trailer Refrigeration Units

The Carrier Transicold X4 7700 is the newest and most efficient member of the X4 family of single-temperature trailer refrigeration units, built for fleets that need both high capacity and long-term California compliance. It runs a three-speed Kubota V2403 smart diesel engine that adds a low-RPM “eco speed” to the standard high and low speeds, automatically engaging when ambient and internal temperatures allow for additional fuel savings; common-rail fuel injection improves fuel delivery efficiency by 5–10%. Paired with a proven 05G 41-CFM six-cylinder compressor, the unit delivers demonstrated fuel savings of 20–25% versus a standard X4 unit and a 96% reduction in particulate emissions. Emissions hardware includes an enhanced fuel filtration system and a maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst, which push particulate, hydrocarbon, and NOx emissions down without the complex exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) that competing systems require. The engine is EPA Tier 4 compliant for engines under 25 hp and meets CARB's 2022 Airborne Toxic Control Measure amendments for transport refrigeration units, giving the X4 7700 lifetime CARB compliance in California without a diesel particulate filter or future exhaust system upgrades. Refrigerant is R-452A, which has roughly 45% lower global warming potential than the R-404A used in standard X4 units. Every X4 7700 comes with Carrier's Lynx Fleet telematics hardware built in for remote monitoring of temperature, location, movement, and system performance, with a factory-installed TRU-Mount solar panel available as an option to help maintain battery charge for the unit and its telematics system. Like the rest of the X4 line, it combines high refrigeration capacity, fast pulldown, and precise temperature control with a straightforward, practical design intended to reduce engine run hours and maintenance costs.
