This is a Carrier Transicold PowerLINE® 69RG15-120W-24 clip-on generator set — Series 24, Carrier's newest platform, released in 2023 to meet the 2022 California Air Resources Board (CARB) amendments to the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for transport refrigeration units and gensets, as well as US EPA Tier 4 requirements for engines under 19 kW (25 HP). Unlike earlier Tier 4 units that require an optional engine emissions system after seven years to stay compliant in California, Series 24 is built for lifetime CARB compliance with no aftertreatment or emissions upgrades ever required — Carrier states it cuts particulate emissions by 96% compared to prior units in the PowerLINE line, making it the cleanest generator set Carrier offers for reefer containers. The genset runs a Kubota V2403-CR-E4B, 4-cylinder, water-cooled, 2.4-liter, common-rail direct-injection diesel engine, paired with an approximately 94%-efficient, custom-designed 15 kW permanent magnet generator. An engine control unit (ECU) precisely meters fuel through the common-rail system, monitored via a rail pressure sensor and regulated to 10,200–10,800 psi (70–75 MPa) at 1,500 RPM under no load; fuel is injected up to three times per cycle (pre-injection, main injection, and after-injection) to reduce NOx, noise, and unburned fuel. A maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst and an enhanced fuel filtration system further cut hydrocarbon and particulate emissions, and the engine achieves this without needing exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The control box includes dedicated relays for the engine, starter solenoid, fuel pump, and glow plug, along with a service light tied to the ECU that flags fault codes readable through Carrier's Diagmaster software. Carrier's FuelWise™ two-speed system is built in and fully automatic, requiring no operator interaction, and delivers up to 34% fuel savings compared to earlier standard units without FuelWise. The unit has a 120-gallon fuel tank and attaches to the container's header rail via a pin-mounting bracket, with a clamp-mount system available as an accessory. Standard equipment includes a high-efficiency dry-element air cleaner, a full-flow spin-on oil filter with internal bypass, an integral fuel filter with water separator, a fuel heater, a stainless steel exhaust and hardware, low-mounted controls, a large aluminum service access door, enclosed forklift pockets, a 12V DC maintenance-free battery with solid-state charger, a patented E-coat tube-and-fin radiator, a color-coded fuel gauge, oil pressure and water temperature gauges, a DC ammeter, shipping bumpers, a power output circuit breaker, a coolant overflow bottle, an engine hourmeter, a 460V receptacle with a spring-loaded cap, and bilingual (English/Spanish) operating and maintenance labels. The unit is rated to operate from -40°C to +52°C (-40°F to +125°F) structurally, starting between -26°C and +52°C (-15°F and +125°F), and running continuously across the full -40°C to +52°C range, delivering a full 15 kW output to power an ISO reefer container.
