Our Thermo King clip-on genset lineup covers the SG-3000, SG-3500, and SG-5000 — self-contained diesel generator sets that mount to a reefer container's corner castings with quick-disconnect fasteners, or optional header pin mounting, and supply independent power to the refrigeration unit wherever grid power isn't available. All three models are CSC certified and built for the transport refrigeration industry, whether the container is moving by road, rail, or sea. The SG-3000 is the standard clip-on model: roughly 2337 x 710 x 1053 mm and about 818 kg (1,804 lbs), with a 15kW (18.75kVA) output at 460V/230V, 3-phase, 60Hz. It runs on a 125-gallon (473-liter) fuel tank and a 12V/925CCA battery, meets EPA, CARB, and ISO 1496-2 standards, and needs a full service only once every 3,000 hours. An optional EcoPower operation mode is documented by Thermo King as delivering more than 20 percent fuel savings over competitive gensets. The SG-3500 steps up to a 2.1L engine rated at 24.1 hp, tested to run consistently between -40°C and 50°C (-40°F to 122°F) at altitudes up to 3,000 meters, with a 15kW electrical output and EPA Tier 4, NRMM Stage V, and CARB compliance. It runs quieter than the other models in the line and uses an electronic governor that only delivers power when it's needed. The SG-5000 is the largest of the three, manufactured in the US and rated for lifetime CARB and EPA Tier 4 compliance. It uses a large-diameter alternator with reinforced bearings, an engine-driven coolant fan, and added corrosion protection, and it's built to power any ISO reefer on the market. Clip-on configuration weighs approximately 828 kg. All three models run on Thermo King's SG+ microprocessor controller, with auto-restart, alarm monitoring, running-hours and voltage tracking, and an optional remote-monitoring telematics package.
